Hi! Welcome to a new aspect of my artistic evolution!

I created this blog to contribute written content to my art website. As a creative writing major, with writing being my first and original passion, I feel as though it'd be best to integrate these two skill sets as often as I can. Perhaps it'll encourage me to continue my writing endeavours instead of neglecting them to pursue my art.
As this is my first blog post, I believe it's best to introduce myself so you can get to know a bit about the kind of person I am. I am S.A. Bouraleh (S.A.B. for short), and I am an artist. And an illustrator. And a graphic designer. And a writer. And a student. Somehow, I manage to be all those things at once. It's hectic, juggling between these skill sets, but it's also very engaging and useful as I like to imagine myself as a jack of all trades. Versatility is very important to me, and the ability to adapt to any situation is something I strive to achieve in every aspect of my life.
I was originally just a writer, but then my friend gifted me a Wacom digital tablet back in November of 2014 when I expressed interest in drawing my own characters and doodling my own book covers. That single act of generosity changed my entire life path and opened up my current avenue of creativity, and saved me from waking up early in the morning to get to a 9 - 5 job I hate, only to come back to a home I can barely afford, sleep for a few hours, and then start that cycle all over again. So thank you, Raven. Truly. It means more than you'll ever know.
Art has always been very important to me, and I was always envious of those with the skill set and means to pursue or create their own art. But now, thanks to the generosity of Raven, I can engage in the creativity I've always been bursting with, and channel it into something magnificent every day. I am trying to make that my living, and that means branching out and marketing myself and trying to break into the industry I wish to make my home. I also plan to pay that kindness forward and enable others to be able to pursue their artistic passions the same way one act of kindness enabled me to pursue mine. I just have to become established and stable first.
I attend the Visual and Digital Arts program at the Media Tech and Info Studies faculty of Humber College. At the completion of this program, I will continue my education at Humber by pursuing a certificate in Graphic Design for Print and Web. I'm currently self-taught, but earning credentials never hurt.
On a more personal note, I enjoy video games (particularly the survival horror genre, like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc.), reading comic books (I started in 2011, and have been addicted since), and cartoons and television. I don't plan on giving up cartoons any time soon. If I'm lucky, maybe my hard work will pay off and I'll be able to create my own some day.
Ultimately, I see myself as a successful freelance artist/illustrator/graphic designer, as well as doing my creative writing passions simultaneously. I plan to work at both DC and Marvel, as well as other comic book publishers like Image Comics, Vertigo, and so on. I've got designs on my own fantasy action/adventure book series that dabbles heavily with various mythologies, and I'm eyeing creating my own webcomic and/or comic book, just to combine my writing and art skills to create something intriguing.
I think that about covers it for now. If you've got any questions, personal or professional, feel free to ask!
Thanks for coming along with me as we begin this leg of my journey,
S.A.B.
